Everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. Matthew 7:24-25

To the Moon!

Judging from my blog posts over the last 3 months, one might get the impression that I only have one kid.  So I figured it was about time for me to write a little about the older monkeys.

Ty and Lucy had a great Christmas this year, and by “great” I mean they received more gifts than they know what to do with.  One thing that Ty got this year was a Mythbusters science experiment kit.  Included in this kit was a rocket powered by baking soda and vinegar.  So a few days after Christmas we headed outside for a lunar launch.

It was bitterly cold and windy this day.  You’ll notice Lucy and the Tool Man are wearing nice warm coats, but Ty is not.  I suppose that makes me a bad mother, right?

Lucy was right up in the middle of all the action.  Thankfully, this day Ty was willing to let her help.  These two usually aren’t so benevolent when it comes to sharing their toys.

Time to fuel her up.  The next time I’m baking a cake and can’t find my baking soda, will y’all remind me what happened to it?

After a good shake, it was time to set the rocket down and run like the wind.  Ty blew his mini duck call necklace to signal the launch.

OK.  So we didn’t make it to the moon, but judging by the look on Ty’s face I’d say he had fun with his new rocket.

And don’t tell him, but there may have been a little science mixed up in all this fun.  Aren’t I a sneaky, homeschool mom?
