Sleeping soon became a priority over blogging while in NYC, so I am a little behind. Here are a few photos from our second day in the city. The highlight of the trip for Ty was the Statue of Liberty. He was the first person to spot it from the plane when we arrived Thursday, and he is even considering being "Lady" Liberty for Halloween. After some confusion over our NYC Sight-seeing passes, we finally made it to the Statue mid-morning Friday. There was some tight security out there...coast guard and helicopters, airport-like security screening. Next, we walked down to the financial district and saw Ground Zero. The area was fenced in, so we couldn't see much at the actual sight, but we did get to see a model of the future memorial. Ty learned a lot about what happened on September 11. Tim joked about Ty missing school this week, but he really did learn a lot historically...9/11, Statue of Liberty, USS Intrepid. I think he will definitely remember this trip.
Supper was terrific Friday night. We ate at Bobby Flay's restaurant, Mesa Grill. Poor Ty was so tired by dinnertime that he fell sound to sleep at the table...after spilling his drink. (It was only water, thank goodness.) Tim ordered pork tenderloin, and it almost melted in your mouth! I had cornmeal crusted chicken and roasted corn. So good!
Lucy enjoyed seeing herself in the mirror this morning. She was all but laughing out loud.
Coast Guard security guarding our ferry out to the Statue of Liberty. Notice the two machine guns on board. There was also a helicopter flying around the statue.
This statue is heavy! What a corny picture. Ha Ha. I saw another woman doing this, so I had to give it a try.
A sculpture that survived the collape of the WTC towers.
View of the WTC sight from the chapel across the street. Crews were working on the memorial.
I could see Tyrone in that Get-up at Halloween.
